It’s that time of the year again when we are all ready to grasp the year ahead with vigour and ambition and set goals that we hope will lead to successful results. Here are a few resolutions to help you achieve your goals and ensure your corporate events are off the charts in 2018!
Get Organised
One of the biggest mistakes in planning events is not getting organised early enough. Time is your friend when it comes to event planning, because you’ll find better pricing and more options when it comes time to select a venue, a caterer and entertainers. It can be difficult, Though not impossible, not to mention stressful and expensive, to pull off a last-minute event. Take the opportunity the New Year presents to be a bit more organised. Start by diarising key dates in your calendar, prepare a time line and get planning. And if you find you need help….ID Events can always assist you!
Know Your Audience
When you’re planning an event, the attendees of the event are who really matter. We constantly remind ourselves of this when we are organising and it is just as important for our clients to also take this into consideration. Whether these are clients, colleagues or employees, take a step back and think about what will be memorable and what will appeal to them. Whether that’s a team-building weekend or a more formal conference setting or gala event, keeping your audience in mind is always important.
Think Outside the Ballroom
Conference rooms are so Tuesday morning. Think outside your workspace, and get creative when it comes to venues and match activities that everyone will really enjoy. From high end restaurants to old warehouse spaces, the sky is the limit when it comes to creatively executing an event vision. There are always new venues on the horizon, however if you’re not sure what venue is most appropriate, or most impressive, don’t worry, we can help. Our knowledge resources and experience ensures that we will source and suggest a venue space that is certain to make your event one everyone will remember.
Re-evaulate
Learn from last year… and the year before that, and the year before that… Corporate event planning is a cultivated expertise and learning from prior events is super important when you’re looking to create a successful and memorable experience. Think about your last events. What feedback did you receive from guests and colleagues? What worked and what didn’t? Were there technology hiccups? Was there enough food? Did transportation arrangements run smoothly? Was the entertainment entertaining/appropriate? You’ll need to consider all of these questions in order to ascertain what needs to change and what was successful.
Engage in an Expert
If you have little event experience or if events just isn’t your “thing” then why not consider in engaging an expert to manage the event or certain components of your event/conference? Employees and management alike benefit from constructive, team-building events and experiences. Sure, you may not know where to start, but that’s where event-planning experts like us come in; we handle all the details of your event (from conception through to execution) so you can enjoy your time to connect with your employees, vendors, colleagues and other attendees.
